How Do I Update Information in My AT&T Wireless Account?

AT&T is one of the big four telecommunication giants in the United States. The company also sells cell phones and TV services.

Updating your AT&T wireless account information can be done for a variety of purposes. Each piece of information that you might want to change on your account has a different porcess for it which significantly eases the process.

Updating Your Billing Information

The process through which you can update your AT&T billing information can be outlined as follows:

  1. Launch your web browser
  2. Open the AT&T website
  3. Input the necessary details and log in to your account
  4. Select ‘Contact Info'
  5. If you have more than one AT&T account, you should click the drop down menu at the top of the page and select the account whose information you would like to update.
  6. Select the tab labeled ‘Phone, Email or Address'
  7. Select ‘Edit' to update your billing information
  8. If there are several numbers, check or uncheck the box below every number. You can also choose whether to receive automated calls or texts to your new number.
  9. Select ‘Save.'

You should check your email for confirmation emails from AT&T. You should also check ‘Verify Email' to complete the account update. You should also receive a verification code or temporary PIN to verify the changes to your billing information which you will be promted to input when you pay your bill.

Updating Your Email Address

  1. Launch your web browser
  2. Open the AT&T website
  3. Input the necessary details and log in to your account
  4. Select ‘Contact Info'
  5. Click the ‘Email' tab
  6. Click ‘Edit' in the User ID email section
  7. Enter your new email address and click ‘Save'

AT&T customers should not that their billing email address and User ID email address are separate and the process for changing them is different as shown above. Your User ID email will only be used to log in and other account details but not billing.

Updating Your User ID

You can also update the user ID that you use to sign in to your AT&T account. You have the option of changing your user ID you use on another account and combining them.

The process to do so is as follows:

  1. Launch your web browser
  2. Open the AT&T website
  3. Input the necessary details and log in to your account
  4. Select ‘Sign In Info'
  5. Click ‘Change Your User ID'
  6. Type your new user ID. If you input a user ID associated with your other accounts, you will be presented with the option to combine them
  7. Check the box to save your new user ID
  8. Click ‘Save' to confirm the update.

You should try logging in with your new user ID to ensure that the change was effectively done.
