You pull out your GoBank debit card to purchase a designer handbag or reserve your spot for a bicycle tour of California. But, then the retailer or tour company knocks off your purchase claiming that you do not have sufficient funds in your account.

Deep down your heart, you know that you had enough money in your account to complete your transaction. At this point, there is nothing you can do other than checking your bank balance and requesting a bank statement to establish what might have happened.

While checking your bank statement, you realize that there is a transaction that you did not authorize that led to a loss of money. So, what are you supposed to do next? How do you file a dispute with GoBank? Read on to find out how to file a dispute with GoBank.

Filing a Dispute with GoBank

If you believe that you are a victim of fraud; the first thing you need to do is contact GoBank customer support and report the incident immediately. You should also report the incident to your local police station.

Once you have reported the fraudulent transaction, make sure that you log into your account and select the "dispute a charge" option that is located at the top of your transaction list. The transaction dispute form will take a few seconds to load.

Take time to complete the form online if you are disputing any fraudulent charge and submit for verification and further action.

In the transaction form, you will provide all the crucial information about the disputed transaction and ask for a refund of the exact amount of money under dispute. You may fill this form if you are not satisfied with the quality of goods or services that you had already paid for.

You will also fill this form if you did not authorize the transaction and a certain amount of money has already been withdrawn from your account.

If you had ordered for products and did not like the quality you received, you will be expected to return the products to the merchant before requesting for a refund. Make sure that every detail you fill in the form is correct to avoid causing delays in the refund process.

What Information Should You Provide in the Transaction Dispute Form?

You should only complete this form when there is a need to do so. The estimated time for filling the form is 20 minutes, and you will need to provide the following information:

  1. Your personal information, such as card number, official name, mailing address and registered phone number.
  2. Transaction information such as the exact date of transaction, transaction amount, and the merchant's name. You may not need to provide this information if you are disputing an unauthorized withdrawal of money from your account.
  3. Dispute reason. You can choose from the provided reasons or fill in your own reason for disputing the charge.
  4. Claim number. You can only provide this information if you had already filed a dispute and submitted it over the phone.

What Documents Must Accompany the Transaction Dispute Form?

Make sure that you accompany your transaction dispute form with all valid transaction receipts, proof of merchandise return, your correspondence with the merchant, a valid tracking number, and any other document that will support your claim.

If you do not provide these supporting chances, you lower your chances of getting a refund from GoBank. The bank will receive your form and go through it to establish the authenticity of your claim. Sometimes, it takes up to five business days to get a response from the bank on the status of your transaction dispute.
